NBA 2K22 will be heading to Switch this September

WhenWhen the new console generation began last November, 2K Sports was there with a version of NBA 2K21 that was designed for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X — a separate product from the NBA 2K21 that had debuted in September on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows PC, and Xbox One. 2K Sports is continuing that tradition this year with NBA 2K22: If you want all the bells and whistles — all of the latest gameplay upgrades, the expanded modes of play, the WNBA career mode that debuted last year, and more — you’ll have to buy the new-generation version of the game.

Last week, it was revealed that NBA 2K22 will be heading to Switch this September, bringing 2K's basketball series to Nintendo's system for another year. New features for the upcoming release have now been detailed, with the Switch edition of the game being described as a 'previous-generation' version – as you might expect, this means the game won't be quite the same across all platforms.

Optimistically, however, the most exciting changes all involve The City and MyCareer. In NBA 2K22, MyCareer will be ditching the more cinematic experience that we have gotten so used to in favor of a more open-world questing system within The City. One of my central complaints in NBA 2K21 was how empty The City always felt, and the changes to NBA 2K22 promise to change that. Buildings will be more interactable and NPCs will be available to take on various quests.

Once again, 2K Sports has set the pricing accordingly: NBA 2K22 costs $69.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, $10 more than on the older platforms.
